It's the start of festival season
This weekend, the Flapper in Birmingham is hosting the 2019 Little Cavalier Festival. Acts lined up to play include (personal faves) The St Pierre Snake Invasion, Haggard Cat and Holyglam, and that's just on the damn Saturday. Pick up a weekend ticket for £20. It's gonna be a blast.
If Birmingham is still a bit too southern for you, make your way to the Fulford Arms in York on Saturday to see Blackpool punks Strange Bones. Support comes from Faux Pas, newly-formed indie trash band The Cartels, and local rockers The Shamble.
A bit pricey at £60, perhaps, for a weekend ticket (that's London for you) but you might want to check out the Raw Power Festival, taking place at venues around the capital from the 24 to the 26t. A real range of acts, but make time for USA Nails and a DJ set from Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs.
Madonnatron are busy on Friday 24 May. They start at Rough Trade East with a live in-store and signing for new album Musica Alla Puttanesca, then head to The Old Blue Last for the release party. No set for the party but they will be DJing, and it is free.
There's a bit of everything noise at the Amersham Arms on the 26t, as they present their Alternative Sunday Gathering. Keep an eye out for Hearse Pileup.
Ahead of all this weekend fun, you can see Sisteray at The Social on Tuesday night, along with Juggs and The Clockworks.
