There’s a new sheriff in gig town: hello! John Clay was unexpectedly called away from his duties here at the gig desk when he discovered, much to everyone’s surprise, there was a band in London Town he had yet to video. So, to business.
Aliceissleeping headline a “crude grunge night” at Nambucca in Holloway on Thursday for Mandrone Records. Fantastic support comes from Imaginary Dreamers, Luna Lacuna and Raw Medicine. £4.34 via TicketSource.
Also on Thursday, Hurtling headline a new weekly night at The Unicorn in Camden for Tufnell Rock Promotions. Free entry, donations encouraged.
Saturday at The Finsbury in Manor House see Black Palms and Blue Stragglers battling to be the dominant colour of the evening. Apeman Spaceman kick off the proceedings for Lost in the Manor. Free via Eventbrite.
International Women’s Day events dominate the weekend, however, and After London and Salvation Jayne play The Camden Assembly on Saturday. £5.50 via Dice.
Nuha Ruby Ra (of Arrows Of Love fame), Deep Tan and Krush Puppies are the picks from an IWD all-dayer at The Shacklewell Arms in Dalston on Saturday for Spilt Milk and London In Stereo. Free via Dice.
Gig of the week honour is awarded to We Can Do It’s IWD shebang at Peckham Audio on Sunday. A strong line-up boasts Honeyblood, The Pearl Harts, the stunning Ghost Car, counting down to their SXSW adventure in Austin, and Noise Noir. £13.20 via Dice.
