Start October right with The Widows, Apex and Du Blonde

After their anniversary shenanigans last week, Some Weird Sin are back to the day job this week with an album launch party for The Widows at the Finsbury Pub on Friday. It’s free entry, which also gets you support sets from The Sly Persuaders, LegPuppy and Hercules II.

For all electronic fans 24rpm all-dayer in Notting Hill on Saturday is one not to be missed. Acts confirmed include Leila, Sarasara, Oval and Loraine James, and there’s more TBA.

Arare UK date for rapper bbno$ at the O2 Academy Islington on Tuesday.

Du Blonde is on the Moth Club stage on Wednesday. If you haven’t yet listened to her album 'Lung Bread for Daddy', this is a very good excuse to catch up.

Not a particularly SEO-friendly name for a band, but the very excellent John start their tour this week with shows in Sheffield, Manchester and Leeds. There are different support acts across the various venues, including Ditz, Frauds and Gaygirl, so well worth exploring further.

You can also catch Frauds with Twisted Ankle at Evil Eye in Liverpool on Friday if you’re further north. This place is apparently a burrito bar, making this the perfect evening. Free entry, too.

The Green Door Store continues to prove itself a major bastion of UK hip hop, as it hosts Lord Apex, Keyah/Blu, Chunk and more on Thursday, celebrating a year of Platform B radio. Buy your ticket in advance to save a couple of quid.
