Wave for the cameras
Dabbla has taken a grimey turn with his latest drop 'Wave' produced by long-time friend and collaborator GhostTown, whom fans may remember from the legendary Dead Players expeditions alongside Jam Baxter.
Boasting an impressive 131 bpm, 'Wave' changes the pace somewhat from his last drop 'Bad Tuesday', but reinforces again his musical dexterity without losing any of the lyrical panache we have grown so used to from our North London spitter.
GhostTown's production never ceases to impress. It's one of them that I'd recommend listening to through your headphones or via a good-quality speaker turned all the way to the max, just so you don't miss any of the intricacies. His past work, aside from the Dead Players' discography, includes beats for Durrty Goodz, Meridian Dan and Ocean Wisdom.
As with all Potent Funk content these days we have a video to accompany it put together by Spin City Visuals. As far as pushing the boat out goes, I'd say there are not all that many oars on board and even less intentions of rowing back to what maybe we expect from 'rap' visuals.
'Wave' will be exclusively available on Potent Funk's Bandcamp or via their website where you will be able to view the above-mentioned video; it's a cinematic affair in more ways than one. Luckily for us, it's a private viewing so any screams will be made in solitude.
